When I learned to 'Think Big'

logo Working in the Information Management segment of the IBM Software Group in Silicon Valley I have come across many interesting projects and a large software portfolio in the past few years. In this presentation I will introduce some of the products I got to work on and discuss how many concepts taught in academia are applied in the business and can be found in software development at IBM. With two example projects, Database Query Optimization for Federated Databases and Data Mining for Schema Mapping, the presentation talks about Information Management products in the database and data warehouse space and IBM software developed specifically for large corporate clients. The presentation will add my personal perspective on a career in a large corporate environment and how graduating from the BTU Cottbus prepared me for it.
